Baseball season has been filled with ups and downs across all teams, but certain standouts are proving that the game can still surprise you.
Viewership this season has increased by as much as 22% compared to last season, according to ESPN. This brings in an average viewership of 1.7 million viewers per game, making it the most-viewed baseball season on ESPN since 2018.
Numbers show that baseball viewership in Japan has risen prominently as well, with reports suggesting that viewership has grown 22% as well, brining the average viewing number to 2.7 million people.
But looking ahead, with the season nearing the seventh inning stretch, what can be determined about how the season will end? Which teams have the chance of making it to the World Series and which ones have dug a hole so deep it could be converted into a dugout?
Here's the major breakdown of the Top 10 Best Teams (by W-L) as of this writing:
Milwaukee Brewers (91-58)
Philadelphia Phillies (87-60)
Toronto Blue Jays (84-62)
Detroit Tigers (84-63)
Chicago Cubs (84-63)
Los Angeles Dodgers (82-64)
New York Yankees (81-65)
Boston Red Sox (81-66)
San Diego Padres (80-67)
Seattle Mariners (79-68)
And here's the major breakdown of the Top 10 Worst Teams (by W-L) as of this writing:
Colorado Rockies (40-107)
Chicago White Sox (57-90)
Washington Nationals (60-86)
Pittsburg Pirates (64-83)
Minnesota Twins (64-82)
Atlanta Braves (65-81)
Athletics (67-80)
Miami Marlins (68-79)
Los Angeles Angles (79-78)
Baltimore Orioles (69-77)
As it stands, this season has been quite lucrative for Cream City's finest. The same cannot be said for the Centennial State's contribution. Just barely behind them are last season's biggest disappointment, the Chicago White Sox. Sports fans everywhere remember how last year's team was the record-smashing worst on-record. This season, they've reached up at least one spot.
These numbers are holding steady, bracing the sport up for what could be a contentious World Series at the end of the season.
